Verified Duo Push

Overview

Verified Duo Push adds an extra layer of security to your login process by requiring you to enter a verification code when approving a Duo Push notification.

This helps protect your account by ensuring that only you can approve login requests and prevents accidental approvals.

What to Expect

When logging into a supported application:

  1. A verification code (3 digits) will appear on your login screen.
  2. A Duo Push notification will be sent to your mobile device.
  3. Open the Duo Mobile app.
  4. Enter the code shown on your screen.
  5. Tap Approve to complete your login.

✅ This confirms that you are actively logging in.

Why This Matters

Verified Duo Push helps:

  • Prevent accidental approvals
  • Reduce repeated or unwanted push notifications
  • Improve protection against unauthorized access
  • Encourage reporting of suspicious login attempts

If you receive a Duo Push you did not request, you should report it as fraudulent in Duo Mobile.

System Requirements

Supported Applications

  • Applications using the Duo Universal Prompt
  • Applications updated to support Verified Duo Push

Supported Mobile Devices

  • Android: Duo Mobile 4.16.0 or later (Android 8 or newer)
  • iOS: Duo Mobile 4.17.0 or later (iOS 16 or newer)

Important Notes

  • If your Duo Mobile app is outdated:

    • You may receive a push notification without a code field
    • Attempting to approve the request will fail
    • You will be prompted to update your app
  • If your device cannot be updated:

    • Use another authentication method (such as a token)

Where Verified Duo Push Does Not Apply

This feature does not apply to:

  • Older Duo prompts (traditional login experience)
