Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer Installation

Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer is a free desktop application from Microsoft that provides a graphical interface for managing and accessing data stored in Azure cloud storage services. It allows users to connect to Azure Storage accounts and upload, download, organize, and manage files, blobs, queues, tables, and data lake resources without using command-line tools.

Software Installation

  1. Run the executable to begin the installation. When prompted to select an install mode, select Install for all users. Warning: The Install for all users option requires administrative privileges. Do not select Install for me only for shared lab or multi-user workstations.
  2. Review the License Agreement (Microsoft Software License Terms — Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer). Select I accept the agreement, then click Install.
  3. If prompted to install .NET 10.0.7, leave the checkbox selected, then click Next. Note: Storage Explorer requires .NET 10.0.7 or greater. If a suitable version is not currently installed, the setup wizard will offer to install it automatically. Installing .NET also requires administrator privileges.
  4. Verify the installation directory, then click Next. Default Installation Path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer. To change the path, click Browse. At least 779.8 MB of free disk space is required.
  5. Select the Start Menu folder. Leave the default value (Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer) unchanged, then click Next. Note: If you do not want a Start Menu folder created, check the Don't create a Start Menu folder option before clicking Next.
  6. Once the installation is complete, the Completing the Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer Setup Wizard screen will appear. Click Finish. Launch Option: The Launch Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer checkbox is selected by default on the final screen. Leave it checked to open the application immediately after setup, or uncheck it to launch manually later.
