Powering on the System

When the system is powered off, the control panel will show an image of the clock tower with a large Press here to Power On button.  Pressing this button will begin the startup sequence for the room.  During this sequence, the projector will power on, and the PC will be selected as the default source. Once the start-up sequence has completed, the panel will flip to an orange screen with the basic control for the room.  These will include source selection, volume control, and camera presets.

Source Selection

AirMedia connection instructions overlay on the AV control panel displaying steps to present wirelessly using SamNet Wi-Fi or via HDMI cable.

The primary AV control panel home screen showing selectable inputs (PC, Laptop/AirMedia, Document Camera), mode toggles, camera presets, and system volume control.

Once on the main screen, you will have 3 sources available to send to the projector: PC, Laptop/AirMedia and Document Camera. Selecting Laptop allows you the option to use AirMedia to present.

Presentation mode: The lectern goes to all screens.

Breakout mode: The lectern goes to the front projector and then each group can project to their own screen.

Hide screen: All screens will go black. This can be useful if you need to do something on your laptop that you don’t want everyone to see. To undo this, select Show Screen.

Note: The Air Media units at each TV for “Breakout Mode” cannot be sent to all screens at once. They are connected to their respective TV only.  The HDMI cable will take priority over the wireless presentation from the lectern.

Using AirMedia

When the AirMedia source is selected, a blue page will appear that provides instructions on how to connect wirelessly.  In order to connect to the AirMedia, your personal device must be on either SamNet or Eduroam Wi-Fi and have the AirMedia application installed (true for Lectern and students).  Once your device is on Wi-Fi, open the AirMedia app and enter the address of the AirMedia device you wish to connect to. This address is shown on the panel and on the projector screen, in the lower left corner.  (Address is only on the TV screen for students.) Once you attempt to connect, the app will ask you for a PIN.  This PIN will be displayed on the control panel for the instructor and on the screen for students. This PIN will be regenerated with a random 4-digit number whenever someone disconnects from the AirMedia.  To dismiss this connection information screen, press the Close Page button at the bottom of the page for Lectern.  To bring the information back, press the AirMedia button on the control panel, even if it is already selected (for Lectern).

Videoconferencing

This room features a Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera mounted on the back wall and a ceiling mounted array microphone. Videoconferencing must be done through the PC (Lectern).

Volume Control

The room volume level can be controlled with the slider at the bottom of the control panel.  The mute button will mute the ceiling speakers, but it does not mute any microphones.  The mute button will be blue when audio is muted.  A text field beside the slider will indicate the current audio level. Volume can only be adjusted at the lectern. Student connections cannot send audio.

Camera Preset Options

Three camera preset positions were programmed into the system for easy operation.  These are Preset 1: Podium , Preset 2: Instructor Area, and Preset 3: Wide angle for as much of the room as possible.

When utilizing the 3 presets, the camera can be aimed freely by clicking the settings gear icon to open the Advanced Settings page. New presets cannot be saved, but you can aim the camera around the room and zoom the camera in and out using the icons on the Advanced Setting page.  To undo any of these adjustments, simply press one of the preset buttons.

Independent Power Control

You can turn each display on and off individually.

You can adjust the volume on the Lectern page from the Settings page.  The Ducking feature will auto-adjust the content audio so your voice can be heard over your presentation.

Powering the System Off

When you are done using the system, press the red power button in the lower left corner of the control panel.  This will begin the shutdown sequence.  During the shutdown sequence, the projector will power off.  Once the shutdown sequence has finished, the panel will return to the clock tower screen.

Diagnostic Page

When the system detects an error, such as a video transmitter or receiver going offline, a small ❗red exclamation indicator will appear near the volume percentage text.  Clicking this indicator will take you to a built-in diagnostic screen.  This screen shows red and green indicators for various system components.  If you experience an issue with the system, snap a photo of this screen and include it with your ticket or email it to the Service Desk to help expedite the repairs.
