Spam Phone Calls (Robocalls)

Overview

We understand how disruptive and frustrating these calls can be, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Unfortunately, spam calling is a widespread issue affecting organizations and businesses across the country. Because these calls often originate from many different phone numbers and frequently use caller ID spoofing, SHSU IT@Sam is unable to effectively block all incoming spam calls.

Additionally, there is currently no reliable way to prevent external callers from spoofing SHSU phone numbers, which can make these calls appear to come from legitimate campus extensions.

Please be assured that SHSU IT is actively evaluating long-term solutions, including unified communications platforms that offer call screening, spam detection, and automation features designed to help reduce unwanted calls.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue working toward a more effective solution.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Harassing Calls

If you are receiving harassing calls from a specific number, please submit a service ticket with the phone number, date, and time of the calls so that we can review the situation. If the calls are threatening or harassing in nature, we also recommend contacting the University Police Department (UPD).
