What is it?
Functionality shared between all or some modules of Banner, such as job submission, are owned by Banner General. This functionality includes Security, Population Selections, Letter Generation, Value Based Security, etc.
What does the helpdesk need to know?
Banner General is ‘owned’ by Enterprise Solutions; however, permission for access is granted by the user’s primary area. E.g. a financial aid employee would work with their Banner Access Management (BAM) owner to get access to General functionality.
Access works with Single Sign On (SSO).
Known error…
External program could not execute or had an error – this is typically a password mismatch for the user logged into the system. To reset the password and allow for submissions, the user must close out of all INB sessions and relaunch. If they have executed more than 5 processes in a row with this error, their account will be locked.
How do you check this system?
Banner General can be verified as operational by accessing Banner Administrative Applications and validating GLBDATA submits and completes normally in addition to verifying forms are working.
